My Guy
Bright eyes and half-smiles,
You’re heartbeat is the rhythm of my very being.
Keep dancing with me in your basement,
Keep walking through puddles with bare feet.
Don’t ever stop bike riding past stop signs,
Don’t ever stop showing up late.
I know your heart better than I know my favorite songs-
I know what makes it speed up and I know what makes it beat steady like a drum.
I can taste the words before they come out of your mouth,
I can understand your thoughts just as you think them.
True love is an unexpected facet of my life,
But the surprises that came with it are blessings.
