Stereo
I hold out my hand,
watching the gentle twitches
from vibrations
pulsing from the stereo
Grandpa bought me
years ago
when immature
and chuckled at the cheap machine.
Now I realize
what Grandpa meant
when he explained
that I wouldn't understand
the struggles
of adulthood and money.
Now, after twelve hour's work
and tired feet
and insufficient pay checks,
overdue bills lay about.
But I manage to listen
to an affordable stereo
Grandpa bought me
those long years ago.
