Coming to Terms with the Truth
Sorry doesn’t seem to cut it anymore.
This life we live is about keeping score;
I hurt you; you hurt me.
The cycle of love, I just let it be.
Because when I’m sorry just isn’t enough,
When walking away is just too tough.
The memories we had make it a little rough,
For me to just walk away.
You’ve always been a friend,
A Joy to have around
Someone to care for, someone to hold,
Because he wasn’t around
I loved you because you loved me,
You made me laugh, you made me sing.
You made life a little better.
At the time, you were my everything.
But I loved you because you loved me.
You made it all alright.
You sang me lullabies,
While I held my lion tight.
I’m sorry, I’m sorry I broke your heart.
But don’t you see, what’s meant to be just isn’t in plain sight?
They say, “Sometimes the one you care for;
You were meant to love,
But not meant to stay in your life.”
Sorry doesn’t seem to cut it anymore.
This life we live is about keeping score;
I hurt you; you hurt me.
The cycle of love, I just let it be.
