Teased, made fun of, kicked on the play ground
Only six, why am I different?
No friends, glasses, set way out of bound.
Only eleven, why am I different?
Fights, black eyes, crying on the bus.
Only thirteen, why am I different?
Principal, teachers, causing a fuss.
Only eighteen, why am I different?
Twenty: no glasses, contacts, maturity,
Fiancé, plans, keeping his purity
Until he’s married. Looking ahead,
A little girl knows the same dread.
He’ll be the teacher, principal, friend,
The doctor, helping her mend.
