Curtains
Lights, Camera, Action,
The Curtains open,
“Let’s do this thing,”
“What if we don’t win?”
Butterflies crash,
Turning and churning,
I see my life flash,
We spent so much time learning,
The dance,
The steps,
My partner Lance,
Plunges into the depths,
Toes turning,
“Lines!” I shout,
Then in my mind there’s a ding,
I’m someone else no doubt.
I catch up to time,
Say all my lines.
And then the curtain closes.
