I write my life in ink, that way i can still remember the good things, and yet i can never erase my mistakes.

Christmas comes but once a year,
And how, by the early fire I wait,
To hear that Ol’ Saint Nicholas’ gait,

Steady by the fire glow I sit,
And strain to hear the patter,
Of eight tiny reindeer that’ll surely matter,

But with the warm tenders aglow,
And the choir singing low…

Surely, I hold my head up high,
Surely I wont fall asleep,
Not when the toys,
Are moments away from heaps,

But sure enough,
As the first of the snow,
Dwindling down to and fro,

Falls just out side the window,
My eyes close just a moment,
Before I drift to slumber.

And then before I woke,
A red and white cloud filled my vision,
And I heard a gentle jingle in my ear,

And sure enough,
When I opened my eyes,
Boxes and ribbons of all types of dyes,

Scattered the rooms,
Under the tree and into the stockings,
And much to my delight and shocking,

Out popped a little dog,
Wrapped in golden strings,
That resembled tiny angel wings,

With a bark,
And a scatter of tinsel,
The little ol’ lab came like a minstrel.
