That Smell of Petrichor
there is nothing that
could have been seen
past that day,
a blind man's sight,
a void of light
and not many words to say
just truancy from love.
my cynosure was not
easy to admit,
i dismissed it lightly,
stuck it beneath my
ailurophile ways
but i think that through my autumn eyes,
and how they would sway
you could see right through
the reserved
admiration for my
felines
and i would drink,
i was drunk as s*** when
i first saw you
when we first held each
other's presence for more
than a brief passing
could not let myself think too much of it
i was very tattered at the time,
tired of unwanted dalliances
and only searching for the kind
that never stuck to me.
i liked meaningless, i loved loveless
and i knew from
those eyes
i didn't have a chance
effervescent efflorescence
in my blood, it can't be drowned
'cause it's a never-ending flood
and any sort of hindrance to that
was something i could not deal with
and it was quite a shock to have
found out that your spectrum was not
only incipient, it lasted long and
is still coursing strong through our
words and laughs and smiles
and most of all, the glitter that
will seem to always
be on our skin
what a sun I always am and what
a moon you have always been
and even though those heat-stained days
have been conquered by the dying leaves
and the heavy heaves of the earth's breathing
i cannot and could not shake you from my mind
when you are back for temporary permanence
I will become warmer once again
and that familiar smell of petrichor
will fill my head with the stars,
the scars, the flowers, the drenching showers
but most of all
the yin and yang
of me and
you
