"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."

Strongly and vigorously,
The wave came crashing down upon the dark gray sand of the shore.
Then,
Waiting impatiently,
Came down another.
Each wave pulling the grainy sand back like a small child with its parents attempting to leave a toy store,
As it rushed through every open space between each grain.
The salty smell of the ocean filled the air,
And was sent throughout the area with the help of the icy cold breeze of the ocean,
Which will send a chill down your spine.
Then,
Gliding through the breeze,
Ruling the skies,
Came the seagulls,
As white as snow, releasing a cry that sends its prey running.
Like vultures they circled around the nest,
A nest full of newly hatched turtles,
Still wet with mother’s nurturing fluid from the eggs.
The sun had been setting,
Which was welcomed by a turning to darkness,
And it was now the turtles start their long and risky journey.
The sand crunched under their tiny green bodies,
And they could smell the salt of the ocean growing as they got closer.
However,
They were spotted by the seagulls,
And one by one,
Like planes in World War II,
The seagulls dive down and attack the turtles,
And would soon do unto them as they would a clam.
Waves of high tides were working against the turtles,
Pushing them back with great force each time they had gotten closer.
The foam of the water acts like fog in the eyes of them.
The bright stars of the night had closed their eyes at the sad fate of the turtles,
Making the night even darker with the growing clouds slowly moving over the sandy beach.
By morning, al the turtles will be gone,
Either having survived or becoming a late night snack.
The turtles that lived are on their own,
So they’ll learn that in life you struggle to live,
And you must fend for yourself.
But,
It’s not a difficult task for them to grasp,
Because it’s life,
The circle of life.

I had to write a poem for my creative writing class with the use of imagery. A little while later, it turned into this.
