All a dream
The cool breeze brushes my face as I look up in the night sky.
She lies next to me in the grass as we stare up in the heavens.
The smells of food linger on the wind.
A large boom echoes in the air shaking my body.
Bright lights light up the sky as everyone stares in amazement.
I turn my head to see her smiling, and I feel peace.
And I just have to remind myself that it's not a dream.
The hot breeze whips past the soldier's face stealing away the energy of the young man. He lies on the desert floor, injured, and dying from exhaustion. A large boom echoes in the air, followed by screams and weeping. Fallen comrades litter the ground. The sky lights up and the soldiers shield their faces. Freedom is what the men fight for. The stench of death is present in the air. He turns his head and sees men with the looks of hopelessness. And he has to keep hoping... that it is all a dream.
