The Standing Ground
A place familiar, yet not a home
Even though residing,
Where people live discreetly
Doing what they do,
Even if they hate it
And even if they beg for more.
A family all disoriented and unseeing.
And I trying to scramble out,
Out of the darkness, the closure,
Away from shutting minds
And yielding grounds fighting to sustain,
Crushing under the uncertainty.
I contemplate while feeling trivial
But even lesser when I do.
I sink with the ground,
And I realize – realize the depth:
The increasing of the decreasing,
The collapsing of the holding.
It falls; it plunges
Away – farther from standing ground,
Lower from my home…my family,
Symbolization to love, bliss and comfort.
Those don’t show the like of mine.
I sink with the ground,
Becoming closer to the earth.
And the more I drop, the more I struggle free myself.
I push myself up, yet the sides crumble,
My grip too weak.
I struggle.
I failingly climb.
Determined, I strive to escape
The ditch I trap myself in,
Struggling to get out,
Yearning desperately to surmount.
Notwithstanding, I descent,
Falling.
And with the ground,
I sink
Further
