For Better or for Worse
Creeping in, covering me in a cloud of fog
When did light become obscured
Medicate, somehow, to sanity
Not sure where or how to find
What we all essentially strive for
In which way does it flow
Each new day it puzzles me
And leaves me with a weight that strains against my head
All I seek is something which I once only knew
Down the street I see the place
I skipped and only felt joy
The unforgiving clock eventually took it away
Pulling me towards twisted maps I never learned to navigate
Full of traps, I hide with humbled new eyes in a dark dead end
I never knew my new reality existed
All I caught was stories, faces, who knew what I now know
It is a rude awakening to realize
Eventually time changes everything,
For better or worse,
One day everything we love or hate
Vanishes before we realize what hit us.
