pink as a plucked duck
smile!
Don’t smile you look like a Clown.
you care about school
you want your mummy to like you
She Doesn’t.
you shove
up shoulders, shrug
hands in pockets
(Those happy-parrot impersonators)
you Do Not give a Damn what They
think, you
don’t blink and They think
it’s Scary and They think
you’ve Never
laughed.
you Don’t.
Crowds boil over, throwing
laughter (like birds) but
Insoluble
you sink
