The Dark of the Shadows
The dark of the shadows slink down the meadow,
The tall canopy of trees bend against the wind's blow,
The bittersweet roses call for me,
Will you still be able to see?
Honeysuckle tickles my delicate senses,
Water from a fall trickles as the grass winces,
I skip into the murky leaves that sting like a bee,
Will you ever come save me?
I don't know who I am in the middle of the brush,
The berries by my head fall into my hand with a slight crush,
The silky poison slips through to the underfoot,
I glance down at my shoes that are now covered in ashy soot,
Come help me deal with the darkness around,
Come find me before this all begins to be too loud,
We've never met, you don't even know my name,
However I see you, I know where your dreams aim,
Please let our eyes finally find each other
Because in my dreams we've always been together,
So come save me from the dark of the shadows,
Come save me from the bent tree where the wind blows,
Come save me from the waterfall,
Come save me from this all.
