Decrepit
Boarded up and blind
Once a home for the rich
You see that hall on the right
Now lined with mildew and wainscoting
A banquet Hall
Charities
Rich raising money for the poor
Two addictions for the price of one
And they want to tear it down
Condominiums they say
Look at the roof tired of standing
Holding to plywood and marble tiles
Tiles for penthouses
Grecian decorations enjoyed now by bats and maggots
Hardly seems fair
But let them have it
Is there a difference between the rich who smoked and sniffed
And the new inhabitants
Breeding like defiled bunny rabbits
Both just tasting what they have left
Look at it now
Home for the poor
Impoverished
Sleeping on broken glass and looking at million dollar views
Boarded up
I walk the shallow pavement sidewalk
Lined with graffiti and broken nails
I see the building everyday
I see it, I do
I see dead rose petals and champagne bottles cracked
Laying amongst the sunken foundation
No one else sees it though
It’s just a ghost
