Two Minutes: Run
For two minutes you can be who you want
And you will not be judged
For two minutes, you need to forget everything
And be at peace with the world
For two minutes, you are the hunter and the hunted,
Both the lion and the gazelle
Run
Run for yourself
Not for the frozen tears streaking trails cross your face on icy black morns
Nor for the sweet sweat rolling down your back in the white flash of desert sun
It is not for an Olympic Medal
Nor an olive wreath adorning your hair
Neither fame nor glory
Just run
Don’t run for those who helped you
Who made you strong
Who made you the best
Who taught you, nurtured you
Not for those who built you up to the person you have become.
This is for you
These two minutes are all for you
And the breath of no one around you
And the sounds of life
One foot
Another foot
