Childhood of Lies
Fears became real,
Dreams and fairy tales,
Became lies,
Because slow and steady,
Doesn’t win the race,
It just puts you,
In last place.
Who knew,
That the Sand Man,
Is always there,
So still sleep,
With one eye open,
So he doesn’t feed off,
Of your secrets and flaws.
The wall that Humpty-Dumpty,
Fell off of,
Is the one we make,
So no one can climb it,
And reach your heart,
That has been broken,
Shattered over the burrs,
Because the king’s men,
Couldn’t put it back together again.
It has taken so long,
To realize,
That our childhoods,
Are based off of lies.
Fears became real,
Dreams and fairy tales,
Became lies,
Because slow and steady,
Doesn’t win the race,
Because the Sand Man,
Leaves you asleep with one eye open,
Because Humpty-Dumpty,
Fell off of your walls,
And our innocence is based off,
Of those lies.
