Etched in Black
Have you seen your name yet, it’s etched in black
On the side of a tree that stands tall under the collapsing sky
And no matter how dark those skies get,
Love will never give way to rhyme
In defeating fate, we are powerless
Against a bigger clock, one that tells our destinies hours
But I am the minute hand on that clock
Although, only time will tell when a soul is to join the flowers
Have you seen the other half of my heart?
For long ago it was cast away to sea
No longer can I see it grow, or feel its warmth
Perhaps it was not meant to beat in me
Have you seen your name yet?
For it’s etched in black
