is a gift
in an
80 pound
brown
package.
Greeting you
at the door,
running,
skidding,
all four paws
splayed out.
Smiling,
thrilled to
see you.
Laying
next to you,
in the crook
of your knees,
warm and
perfectly content.
Patrolling
the neighborhood,
ears perked,
nose to the ground,
on the lookout
to protect you
from potential dangers.
Always by your side.
