goodbye
Goodbye
As I look at the heart rate monitor I can’t believe it,
I’m saying my last goodbye
I look everywhere.
Everywhere except into those eyes.
Those eyes just remind me of the good.
The good that’s about to end.
I don’t want to cry,
Not here,
Not now.
It’s way too soon,
Too soon for me to go.
Laying in his arms,
I finally look up into those eyes.
He returns the gaze,
Kisses me on the cheek,
And says those words everyone dreads.
Goodbye.
And just like that,
The heart monitor slows,
The beeps coming less and less,
As I slip, into the heavenly sky,
Filled with angels,
Singing.
Not goodbye but,
hello
