Escape Feels So Far
Trapped - in a hole with no air
I gasp for a breath-
I try to climb to freedom
But I’m sucked back in-
Locked behind iron bars
I suffer through everything
Through the anguish inflicted
Desperately - calling for help-
No one hears my voice-
It vanishes - with my joy
Fades back with no remembrance
Echoes bouncing off of nothing
Hope develops with age
Escape feels so far-
Yet that miniscule flicker stays alive
Somewhere in the back of my mind
