Remember
Remember that day
That day that was going to be your last
The sun was barely up when you decided it
Remember when you were lost
Remember when you were scared
And broken
It was hot that day
Remember the rain of tears that poured from your eyes
The pills that were safe in your pocket
And the overcast outside your window
Remember writing the notes in your diary
And kissing your dog for the last time
And seeing the kids outside taunting you with their joyful faces
Remember fighting with him the night before
And getting fired from work the same day
There was a horrible thunder storm that day
Remember being depressed for a year
And losing your friend prior to that
Then do you remember praying?
Asking if it was the right thing to do?
Begging for an answer before you walked away
The clouds started to clear out around then
Remember how it just clicked
And you put the tiny weapons away
Back into their little orange cave
The sun was out then
And it was bright
Then you read through the letters
And burned them
And you held your dog
And then it happened
You smiled.
