Daddy Lied
Daddy told me he would never let go,
Trusting him with my life, I believed him.
Daddy lifted me onto my bike, holding on tight,
I did the same, quaking in my sneakers.
Daddy told me to start peddling, he would hold on,
Doing as I was told, we made our way down the street.
My long blonde hair flowed behind me, from underneath my yellow helmet,
Pink and purple streamers noisily flapped in the breeze.
Daddy told me he wasn’t going to let go,
But as I looked down, his hands were gone.
A sense of panic filled me, I whipped my head around,
Daddy was standing there, a grin on his face.
As my bike careened to the ground, I collapsed to the pavement.
Daddy said he would never let go,
I was left alone, to hurt.
Daddy lied,
And I cried.
