Like drones, we sit in front of TV sets
Mindlessly watching reality television that has already been written
We are afraid to live our own lives,
so we watch the prefabricated interactions of others
We sit and watch the news, reporting natural disasters of foreign lands,
thinking to ourselves that we’re just lucky it isn’t us,
fortunate that misfortune has not struck our tiny slice of world

We go on with our day, living our materialistic, American dream
plagued by advertisements and sameness
not knowing that one day, tragedy will come
chaos will be our only deliverance

Everyone is just a pawn in someone else’s game,
that’s the only purpose we serve.
Like drones, we wake up, work, eat, sleep
But all for what?

We pass hundreds of others on the street,
most likely not regarding them
unless they jostle our bag or disturb our conversation
but then, only to give them a mean look
that lets them know they are inconvenient

As humans we do the bare minimum
when it comes to everything but work
no time for self-expression, exercise, emotion
no space for feelings
Like drones, we are driven by greed
doing only what makes us rich
taking only what we can use, and letting the rest go by

That's really good! Reminds me of Fahrenheit 451, and I totally agree with everything said.
