Betelgeuse I know
February 22, 2012
Betelgeuse I know
you are 1,500 times
larger than the sun
but when I stand
on my toes and crane
my neck,
I lift my thumb
and just like that
you’re gone

This picture is perfect for this poem. To me, it seems like it's the perspective of a child. There's a little playful innonce imbued with some clever rebellion. Like yeah, I know you're grand, but I can still cover you, even with my small thumb. Short and simple with inquisitive emotions. And I love how it's an apostrophe to the star Betelguese. (Astrophysics, everyone, who doesn't know this.)
