I’m seventeen and I’m crazy. My uncle says the two always go together. When people ask your age, he said, always say seventeen and insane.

But I wanted so desperately to tell you
that your eyes are like rainbow-tinted throwing stones
and your laugh inspires a pleasant rattling in my bones;
that the way you speak reminds me of a lullaby
on summer nights where the moon is at some lovely high;
how your structure appeals to me like babble to a brook
and my patience looks eagerly for new weakness and nooks;
and how
your drumming heart,
your bitten lips,
your rough skin,
give me feelings of
humming like a violin;
and yet I was so afraid.

A penny for your thoughts, my dear;
toss it to the fountain
that lies inside my eager ears.

I love this website for reasons like this. Your poem is so relatable to people on here who appreciate words, language, and literature so much. We all love people, but can't truly explain to them how much they mean to us through words and poems like this because of fears of being judged. I always find myself being scared when I show someone a poem of mine because they're so personal and raw. And especially to tell someone you like, it's absolutely terrifying. Anyways, I'm rambling on. :) Beautiful word choice and I loved this piece. :)

"Emotions are as uniqe as the person who feels them. No one can ever feel the same about anything past a certain point. And it just so happens to be that not many people ever even catch sight of that crossroad in their life time." -Me.

Quite agreeable with the comment above me!
