Haunted
Walking by that old abandoned house
I could see the sky darkening and clouding over,
Casting a devilish shroud over the house and its dead gardens.
A cold shiver ran down my spine,
as a cold breeze wrapped around me like a hand,
trying to sweep me into the evil grasps of this dark world.
The house itself seems to be leaning towards me,
Ready to swallow me whole.
The ruddy old shutters bang against the windows as the wind picks up,
making it seem as if the whole house was alive.
A pair of willow trees sits on either side of the yard,
Swaying and dancing wildly in my direction,
As if they too were trying to get me.
Crows swoop in as if out of nowhere,
Circling the house until coming to a rest on the roof.
They all start to sing with such harmony,
it feels like they were singing at a funeral...
Their feathers glistened a silky rich black
as they flapped their delicate soft wings.
The dried up grass seemed to grow greener
Coming alive and inching its way towards me.
The shriveled up flowers also began to bloom,
holding what resembles a bow and arrow
and pointing them straight at me.
I could feel Death slowly wrapping itself around me.
But I can't scream.
I can only stare, frozen, as the entire place creeps up, little by little,
too terrified to run away.
All of a sudden
everything went black...
I woke up suddenly.
I was shivering and shaking violently
as sweat rolled down my face and body.
I was petrified.
I couldn't hold them back any longer,
so I let the tears escape in waterfalls.
Ever since the nightmare,
I have been scared to fall asleep,
knowing what waits for me in that cold, dark realm
will never stop until it has finished what it had started.
And because of that night,
I will forever be haunted...
