Dissolve; Never to be seen again
Engulfed in flames,
Surrounded in heat.
Cracking at the seams,
Falling apart slowly.
Tiny specks of dust,
Disappear in the wind.
Flying away,
As far as they can go.
Running from the one thing they fear most,
Running from the one thing they can’t escape.
Black and burned,
Gray and dull.
Soft to the touch,
Fragile to the core.
Hiding as best they can,
From the hands that cause them pain.
Blending in,
To stay alive.
Shaking in the breeze,
Shivering in the dark.
As the flame dies away,
As the sun hides behind the hills.
Waiting for the soft caress,
Of mornings warm glow.
Feeling its rays,
Brush against their skin.
Another night survived,
Another day to go.
When all they want is to dissolve,
And never be seen again.
