Angel of Light
Slowly they rise above you,
Casting dark shadows over the land.
Dark and powerful they seem,
And you’re standing on shifting sand.
Colder the air grows around you,
As you face your biggest fears.
You turn away from your giants
To face the light that’s near.
It’s calling out your name,
But you shake your head and reject it,
And turn around to face alone
The giants rising high.
It’s six on one;
The battle’s already lost.
You put up a fight,
But it’s not enough.
You lie on the ground;
Your hope flies away.
Your mind knows this fact:
You won’t see the next day.
But you remember the light,
And cry in the night
For help to come and save you:
Your last chance for life.
Suddenly you’re wrapped in warmth,
Encased in loving arms,
Under the shadow of your angel’s wings,
In the protection of the light.
