Envy of Love
T'was just a passel of moons ago
Not very long you'll see
That love and loss
And cold and death
Will first be felt by me
That love no stronger has been felt
Nor ever again shall be
Yes love is no longer being felt
By he towards the likes of me
Yet I suppose our death was inevitable
Our love was not meant to be
Yet I wonder why we had to die
To cease to move, to breath
He was but a sweet innocent
Nothing more, you'll see
The pain and death and sorrow
All were aimed at me
Yet here do I stay, ghostly
And he in Heaven be
Yes here do I stay, haunting
Reciting this to thee
All pain and sorrow wrought in him
The pain was aimed at me
The others were so jealous
Of our love, pure as the sea
That they hanged him from a branch
And after, I hung me
But as a kindred spirit
I cannot cease to be
So 'til my soul is laid at rest
I will mourn for him you see
I will mourn for my sweet lover
For I cannot cease to be
