The Sky Never Ceases
I took a walk through a field in the country
There, I found a companion: a crafty, but gentle lion
Each day, I came to the fence of brambles
Ecstatic at my arrival, he pranced around and wagged his tail
I climbed onto his back, and he leapt across the brambles
I took a walk across a sea of pebbles
There, I spotted a palomino stallion galloping in the distance
He came to a stop, and I reluctantly approached him
He trotted closer and met me halfway, nuzzling my outstretched hand
I climbed up onto his back, and he took off across the sea
When I could barely see the shore, he bucked and sent me flying off
He ran off to the east, while I made my own way ahead, cutting my feet on the pebbles
I took a walk across rolling hills of granite
There, I found a raging black river that stretched for miles
I sat by the river day after day, watching its beauty
I slowly got closer and closer to the water
Soon, I got too close and fell in
The chaotic water tumbled and dragged me across sharp rocks on the bottom
I grabbed onto an edge just before I was thrown off of the endless waterfall
I climbed out of the river and limped away, bleeding blue blood
I took a walk through a range of jagged mountains
There, a large cougar crossed my path and eyed me like his dinner
He stalked up to me and leaned down slightly, pressing his forehead to mine
He turned toward a dim star in the sky and walked forward, so I followed
We passed a tall, hollow tree that warned me to fun fast, far away
I backed away from the cougar, but I backed right off the cliff
I landed on a ledge below, scraping my back on the stone and breaking my leg
Someday soon, I’ll walk the earthen line between green and gray
There, I’ll be stopped by the fierce winds blowing from all directions
The wind will lift me up and carry me across the world
Past the plains, the sea, the hills, the mountains, and the stars
From one corner of the sky’s mind to the other
Healing all the wounds of the past, drawing out a new world
For the sky and the wind will never change, never cease
