"Dance like no one's watching.Sing like no one's listening.Love like you've never been hurt. Live like its heaven on earth." -Mark Twain

In his eyes I do not see the sky
In his smile I do not see the sun
In his voice I do not hear bells
In his hands I do not feel like glass
His skin is not tanned nor is he buff
He is not poetic
He does not recite ballads for me
He does not put down what he's doing to have deep romantic conversations.
He does not sit next to me in every class.
He is not a god.
He is not the center point of my life.
He is not gravity.

His eyes are a lovely shade of blue.
His smile is warm and quick.
His voice is soothing and tipped with humor.
His hands in mine make me feel strong.
His skin is just fine, and so is the rest of him.
He is honest.
He remembers the important things I tell him.
He likes to talk to me often.
He always says hello in the hall.
He is a good person.

His virtues are extolled enough by honesty, they need no exaggerate to demonstrate his goodliness.

This is a modern twist on Shakespeare's 130th Sonnet. He makes fun of Petrarch's style of love sonnets, then explains that his mistress is lovely enough without gross exaggerations. This was done about a good friend of mine.

Wow, I really loved reading this poem! It's such an awesome alternate take on the 130th sonnet... The correlation between the two poems is definitely there :) And A 130 Twist is such a relatable poem... At least from my interpretation, I know so many people about whose characteristics I feel no need to exaggerate because they're so beautiful the way they are. This is a wonderful poem!
