A Marble
Something has taken
me, picked me out
of a velvet
bag.
Something has wrinkles
and smells like ash
and cheap
shampoo.
Something has the taste
of grandmothers cookies
and tomato
juice.
Something has grasped
me for years
and years
now.
Something has loved
this little glass
globe, a rainbow
color.
Something has put
me to her
lips, sung a
lullaby.
Something has held
me to a cheek,
rain the soft
tears.
Something has dropped
me onto cement
and tile and
carpet.
Something has been
a baby girl
with little fingers,
soft.
Something has become
old as i
and still has the urge to
live.
Something has let
me fall into my
lonely velvet
sack.
Something has made
a thump against the
now moldy
rug.
Something has dropped
her favorite mug,
spilling her favorite
juice.
Something has not
picked me up,
she never again
will.
Something has a
terrible fate,
to stay is such a
burden.
Something
Has
Died.
