When it’s cold
And I touch your skin
It’s easy to feel where you end
And I begin
A golden, frosted barrier
Goosebumps sentries at your border

When it’s warm
Twilight between the sheets
Your skin darkens to dusk
The smooth syrup of your soul
Melts and wraps itself
Around my wrists and ankles
Like vines
And our lips
The forbidden flowers and fruit
Drink in the sweetness
