Tangled Roots
Orchid, lotus, heath, carnation,
Each by itself is a new creation.
But dig down deeper into the ground,
And that is where worth is truly found.
Roots interwoven, seeds sewn under the same sun,
Not just surviving, but thriving as one.
Red, purple, yellow, and blue,
A colorful mixture, an herbal stew.
Communities and pastures, one and the same,
Yet humans see coexistence as shame.
Surface “imperfections” start the craze,
To judge one another in many ways.
Connections are broken, roots ripped apart,
And it’s almost forgotten that we all have a heart.
Things that made us feel so small
Don’t really matter, overall.
Dig down to the roots that we did hide,
Claw right through the critical side.
Because hidden under rocks and soil,
You’ll see that the roots do recoil.
