Waning Glow
I'll be here again tonight
a glow-in-the-dark star clutched ardently in isolation
holding it's waning light desperately
and praying to a broken moon,
and hallow sky
that all is not quite lost.
Praying that when these shattered tears pull me to sleep
there's nothing worse there waiting.
And you'll still be there
the fabled-lights themselves
glowing off your face.
Where the moon is always full
but you'd never need to notice.
Where you'd never think twice about the meaning of sky
or the fact that I'm here writing this
crying in the darkness
remembering that when I told you:
"I'm not telling you my pain because I'm afraid you'll feel it."
what I really wanted you to say was
"I already do."
