Their eyes tell silent stories.
Stories that would shock even the darkest of hearts.
These eyes have seen worse than some could even dream of.
They’ve seen killing and death, and pain and suffering to extents that can be hard to imagine.
Eyes that should be learning how to read are instead being taught how to fight.
Emotionless eyes are being forced to kill in gruesome ways.
Eyes that seem to have run out of tears, because crying never helped.
Their sobs are unheard, their tears are unseen.
Children who are innocent are being ruined by men who see no hope in their government.
Men who are willing to take advantage of an irreplaceable innocence.
The eyes are deep brown.
A brown so deep you could get lost in it.
Eyes that catch attention for their beauty.
They silently tell of innocence lost and of silent tears cried.
These are the eyes of a child soldier.

"Never Give Up, Never Give In"

This was a great poem it truley explains what happens around the world all the time, especially in Uganda with a civil war still going on down there for many years and kids, childern as young as 7 or perhaps lower being taken from there parents and being forced to fight for a wrong cause. So this poem really has powerful words and i hope that the people who read this comment will go to the Invisble Childern's website and become informed on whats happening to make a difference

This makes me sad to read it. It was well written. I hate that these little children were raised to fight. Over all good job.

You see that girl? Yeah her. She seems so invincible, right? But just touch her & she'll wince. She has secrets& trust no one. She's the perfect example of betrayal. Because everyone that she's ever trusted has hurt her.

I had to read a story bout child soldiers. its very sad...but good job!!!

This is an inspiring piece that not only tells a story but touches the heart. While reading this i could literally see the children, i wanted to reach out and touch them, hold them comfort those innocent brown eyes. That is what good writing is about. Bravo

"Always remember, it's your choice, everything is a choice."

The best poetry in my opinion is poetry that reveals the truth. Yours does just that and should open the eyes that say they are unaffected by the horrors of war. This could just as soon happen to us as it happened to them.

"You spend your whole life stuck in the labyrinth, thinking about how you'll escape it one day, and how awesome it will be, and imagining that future keeps you going, but you never do it. You just use the future to escape the present." -John Green

This is so touching. My eyes filled up with tears. What a powerful poem.

This is so fierce and harsh, but unfortunatly - for the most part - true. This expresses such emotion...keep on writing.

That was great. I'm an emotional kid, so I cried when I read this. I think what you wrote about was an eye-opener to anyone and everyone who read it.

Recently, I read a book called A Long Way Gone by Ishmael Beah. It vividly describes how Ishmael was forced to become a child soldier and how everyone was killed in it. Ishmael still lives today! Oh, and good job on the poem. Can you read my story and comment on it please? it's called You Don't Understand Me on the writing forum section.
