Reality
I want to see a fairytale without a happy ending,
To tell me the facts and truth about the life we're living,
To tell me what happens sometimes in the face of adversity,
To show me that sometimes for a good guy, there is defeat,
And that the bad guys often win,
Play with your heart, your mind, takeover, and run for President,
So as a child I can learn ahead of time that the world is cold,
That the bravest of brave and the boldest of the bold,
Get scared too, and have no clue what to do,
I want to see a movie without them happy, both Mom and dad,
So its not so sad when daddy takes off in that yellow cab,
Never turns around to say goodbye, and day n' night all Mommy does is cry,
To tell me that sometimes Mommy won't be the same,
When daddy's at his friend Nina's house, so much shame,
That sometimes the Nina's of the world have no clue,
That daddy has wife at home and a baby too,
To tell me that sometimes daddy's aren't around to protect,
That every month for 18 years you will just see daddy's name on that check,
And all of that neglect, will carry on and live with you,
And you feel like there's nothing that you can do,
I want to see a sunrise with a sun that doesn't shine.
To tell me that sometimes, the sun won't shine
That you can't always expect the light to come to day,
To tell me that sometimes darkness is all you see, hear, or say,
And everyday that passes, somebody dies,
People who are close will weep and cry,
To tell me that the saddest thing happens to some of those lives,
That some of those spirits will never again see the Son shine,
And that all those "good times"
Cost them a lifetime...
