I Cry
I saw you walk away
In my dreams.
I felt the sting of pain
In your words.
I said, “I love you!
Daddy, come back to me!”
And I cried and cried and cried
Till I couldn’t cry anymore.
My heart was broken,
Dripping shining rubies.
It became a block of ice,
Not daring to ever love again.
We’ve both said our lies,
Broken enough pathetic hearts.
And I cried and cried and cried
Till I couldn’t cry anymore.
How much screaming and shouting
And crying and torture can you take?
How much longer till you
Can say, “I love you”?
And I’ll sit on my bed,
With my knees to my chest,
And I’ll cry and cry and cry
Till I can’t cry anymore.
