Petals

Her hair was the color
of daisies,
an unearthly white
with a touch of yellow.
She had always felt more like a violet
or a rose,
but she was a daisy;
beautiful and unassuming.
To accept that,
she went to the wildflower fields
out of town,
undressed,
and rolled in a bed of her namesakes.
When she came back,
she had petals in her hair.
