Trinkets
I disliked these trinkets
I held in my hands
One was the ground beneath me
The other was sand
One was the creation
Simple and pure
Developed a nation
That hearts could endure
The other was the downfall
Burned and disgraced
That ignored hear the hopes fall
And the empty embrace
I held them so tight
My hand burned numb
My pinky swelled white
And so did my thumb
I wanted to release one
But which do I chose?
The dream from the past
Or the new but abused
