"I write to give myself strength. I write to be the characters that I am not. I write to explore all the things I'm afraid of." - Joss Whedon

I need to go
Until there's no more road
Speeding on the highway
I have to do this my way

I had to leave you behind
Please, don't pay any mind
See, I needed to forget you
And this was all I knew to do

I wanted us together
You said always and forever
Now I need the space
To get the hell away from this place

The memories I have are tainted
With dark colors we always painted
Kind words you always lack
I might never come back

But I don't blame you
There was nothing we could do
What's done is done
Someday I'll find the sun

The rain will refuse to play
The clouds will drift away
There's nothing left to say
My love, have a nice day

Escaping a verbally abusive relationship but still very in love. While the poem itself isn't entirely factual, it's inspired by real events.
