A Farewell To a Dear Old Lady
A farewell to a dear old lady,
I've known her since she was a baby.
I'm talking about my grandma's dog,
Before she left I wish I'd given her a hug.
They moved her away to a far away farm,
A place where she'd be free from harm.
A better life if I should say,
But I really wish that she had stayed.
Her name is Sheella, a playful old lady,
A black Rottweiller she's twelve already.
She's deaf, but was taught commands,
All which have to do with using the hands.
Now I regret the days I didn't visit her,
And I dread the days I wasn't there for her.
I reminensce about the time we spent together,
Moments I now wish would last forever.
When I visited my grandma she was there,
My fat old lady she looked like a bear.
Running around different mattresses,
Playing tag with her seemed endless.
A tall orange tree in my grandma's backyard,
We'd play fetch all day, if you took the orange she'd growl.
Loyal as she was she lied down besides me,
Even when I paid no heed to her watching T.V.
And I admit I still feel sorrow,
Yet I have hopes for a better tomorrow.
In a farm where she's free
Where they'll let her be.
Other dogs to keep her company,
land as far as the eye can see.
But what if she were to pass away?
How'd I know? She's so far away.
Would we be informed for a proper burial?
Or would they just forget her as if she'd never been real?
And I suddenly missed her a lot again,
I guess It's because I only think of her every now and then
Not because we're starting to part,
But for the sake of my fragile heart.
This may be selfish, but I want her back,
I'd give her love, they can't give her that.
So I carry a picture of her on my phone,
So she's somewhat with me wherever I go.
So my farewell to my dear old lady,
Hope to see her again, someday maybe.
