first you spoon-feed me lies
that taste sweet, settling remarkably well
in my uneasy stomach.
What's the next course?
Some savory sautéed subterfuge
preparing me for a future of green beans?
Windmills covering fields,
water powering wheels, I expect.
That's more like it,
we're moving forward.
Now for some good old boiled blasphemy.
How did you know it was my favorite?
I'm really liking your cooking now,
although I wouldn't mind a hefty portion
of reality on the side.
You're all out?
That's too bad,
I suppose I'll have to make do.
‘Twas a delightful meal,
I'll pay you in full.

I found this poem very thought-provoking, which is what good poetry should be! I think this is excellent. Keep writing!

&quot;Rather than love, than money, than fame, give me truth.&quot; - Thoreau<br /> &quot;Sometimes you&#039;re flush and sometimes you&#039;re bust, and when you&#039;re up, it&#039;s never as good as it seems, and when you&#039;re down, you never think you&#039;ll be up again, but life goes on.&quot;

All I can say is: wow. This is pretty hard to argue with! It's very good. Personally, I'm not an American, but this sounds like a nice poem nevertheless. Great work! Keep writing, x
