Mister
Some advice I consider the best
Surprisingly I got it from Mr. West
"If you admire somebody, you should go 'head and tell em'
People never get the flowers while they can still smell em'"
I met you in my freshmen year
Heard what you would say but just didn't care
Now every time I audition
To prove myself as a musician
To make you proud is my motivation
Can't believe I'd feel that for someone in this institution
During the hard times you helped me through
You made me do things that I couldn't do
You made me do things that helped me improve
After some thinking I guess I say thank you
So Mister
I hope you’re proud of me
You’re the type of person I want to be
Here is something that I foresee
Best I can be is what I'll guarantee

Wow, that was really nice of you to dedicate a poem to your teacher. I have had sevaral teachers who I will never forget... It flows nicely, but sometimes the rhyme distracts from the poem... maybe it's too obvious, then again, I'm not much of a poetry critic :)
Could you please read my poem "Deceit" and tell me if it's any good?
