For nothing this wide world I call
Save thou, my rose; in it thou art my rose
- shakespeare

The words swirl around, letters all in the air
Whisking through my ears, tearing out my self esteem
Disorder, disorder, problem, problem
How many more can there be?
I am shy, I am a selective mute
I am happy then sad, I am bipolar
I am excited, I have ADD
Don’t you see?
Don’t you see?
Who am I, if not a child medicated
Can’t I
Can’t I just be me?

The author's comments:
This poem was inspired after reading an article about how being shy is now fixable by medication. Being shy myself as a young kid and getting over it eventually, it seemed kind of foolish that we are now using medication to do so. Instead of trying to "fix" kids, why not just let them be?
