Inside
Myself on the inside is a part of me that no one ever sees
It is a mess, a jumble of sadness, weighed down by hurt and anger
Yet lightened by joy and happiness
And it’s all balanced by the little bit of sane I have
Myself on the inside is a part of me that no one ever sees
It’s the one thing that scares me in the world
Yet it’s the only private place I have
Myself on the inside is made of scars
I’m always afraid to get cut because I know it will leave another scar
But if I don’t get cut, then I can’t heal
And if I don’t heal, that’s what I’ll be: a jumble of scars
Myself on the inside is a part of me that people will start to see.
