A Second Chance
As I sat there
With the goodbye letters
Sitting on the table
With the knife in my hand
Ready to end it all
I took the last few seconds
To see what I was leaving behind
All the memories I had
The photographs
The phone calls and text messages
The laughter
The tears
And all the people I grew to love
The ones who took the time
To be there, to try and help me
So I tucked away the letters
Not saving them for another time
But to remind me what I overcame
I put the knife away
Back to where it belongs
Because the memories are worth the stay
And the people deserved to be loved, not left
