Bobcats
This summer is consisting
of innocence circles,
and
my responsibilities are sided in
the center,
squares bursting from
where they seemed to enter;
vertices scraping against
curved walls.
Yes, you have gotten tall, and
Yes, you have gotten bigger,
and your melting, maturing minds
are begging to pull the trigger
because you’ve had good finds
when it comes to experience
but your youthful blood
is too full of esurience.
You are spurting so far away
from what I am paid to preserve;
conserve your energy,
because you will later
catch yourself
looking over your shoulder,
wondering why the f***
you exhausted yourself
trying to get to the point
you have finally
obtained.
