Eating Butterflies
I look at her and she looks back at me
As innocent as a simple glance could be
She does not know me nor do I know her
But being acquainted is something I would prefer
Because I am eating butterflies
It is the first time I feasted on butterflies
My first serving was served after I looked into her eyes
Instead of biting, I swallowed them alive
And felt them fluttering around inside
Because I like feasting on butterflies
Feeling compelled I approach her and say “Hi”
But with each step I begin to get awfully shy
Seeing her smile directly at I
Is when the waiter gave me
My second serving of butterflies
I attempt to introduce myself very causally
But unfortunately there was another butterfly casualty
She laughs and smiles again, but this time awkwardly
My stomach plummets, oh so awfully
Because it is now very full of with wild butterflies
Now feeling as if this was a mistake
Feeling as if this was an illusion, and I being out of place
I looking at the floor, she doing the same
All we know about each other, is each other’s name
The tension whispers sweet nothings into the air
She is now looking around, playing with her hair
I frantically think of something to say
Hopeless, I began to walk away
To find more butterflies to dine on today
As I began to take steps away from my dream
I then hear her voice
“Wait” she says as the butterflies pull at my heart
She begins to explain as she catches up
That she was nervous and did not know what to say
Because her mouth was full of Butterflies
