What is a Man?
What is a man?
It must be specific.
Specifically human,
Specifically male.
Someone who likes the color red
and blue
because those are powerful colors.
Someone who gets work done indoors
and out.
Someone who was born a boy,
bravely made his way through dirty child years,
gangly teenage years,
stressful adult years of great production,
when his chest and arms grew strong,
then gets a big, soft belly and pink face
when elderly years arrive.
Someone who isn’t afraid to get his hands dirty,
or just won’t show it,
and puts his fears aside to help others,
especially the ones he loves.
Someone who’s honest,
and would rather walk than drive,
unless, of coarse, his injuries don’t permit him to do so.
Someone who likes dogs over cats,
and children,
showing that he isn’t selfish.
Someone who likes money,
but isn’t “money hungry”.
Someone who works hard,
and completes tasks without quitting.
Someone who has a best friend named Joe
or Jim
or Bob
Or Mike
Or Tim,
Tom,
or Goose.
Someone who enjoys a night out with the guys,
but ultimately enjoys the freedom of coming home.
Someone who doesn’t excessively drink soda.
I’d almost rather have a man drink excessive
whiskey or beer
than soda,
in some ways.
Someone with large feet.
Its not that I have a foot fetish,
but have you ever met a good man with small feet?
Someone who doesn’t rely off of other people,
or make false promises,
or knowingly cause harm to the innocent,
but will apologize if he accidentally does,
and do more than that,
fix a situation.
Someone without arrogance,
who is clever and passionate,
who fights for what he believes in,
for what is right,
Regardless of whose on the team it is he's fighting for.
Someone who can bring smiles to peoples faces,
that last long after he leaves the room,
and someone who loves without guilt,
remorse, and regret.
Who will keep a secret,
and change a light bulb.
Who saves your world,
while rocking his own.
